Lake Saif ul Malook alpine beauty

As we were fascinated by our exploration of the wet mountains of Naran valley and Kunhar river, Taha and I headed southeast from Naran town towards the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad N-15 road. Then after 150 meters turn left at the subway and sharp right near Naran tours towards Naran Bypass road. After 90 meters of driving, we finally started our journey on Lake Saif ul Malook road. As we started our journey toward Saif ul Malook, there are beautiful scenes along both sides of the road. We clicked a lot of shots and saved them on camera as well as on smartphones.

Geography of lake Saif ul Malook

Our journey was awesome although the road was climbing around the hills and there was a shortage of oxygen as we felt. However, the weather was partially clouded today and the sun was playing see-saw with the clouds. The beautiful Saif ul Malook lake is located likely at the northern edge of Kaghan valley 9.3 Km from Naran town or the N-15 National Highway. The area is already known for its jaw-dropping alpine beauty. Stopping off at a roadside stall to enjoy coffee and some snacks especially Pakoras were delicious and tasty.

After a short break in the middle of the route, we started our journey again. After traveling 9.3 Km from Naran town on this 4X4 Jeep, finally, we reached an elevation of 3,224 meters we saw the majestic Lake in the valley, and the mountains around the lake were covered with a white blanket of snow. However, there was no such rush of tourists to this amazing tourist place in Pakistan due to the winter season. So we captured a lot of eye-catching pictures of one of the highest lakes in Pakistan, Lake Saif ul Malook.

Scenic Views and Malika Parbat

It is worth mentioning that the Malika Parbat the highest mountain peak in the Kaghan valley is located near the south of lake Saif ul Malook. The Malik Parbat or Queen of the Mountains is 5,290 meters tallest peak of Pakistan.

Lake Saif ul Malook Tech summary

The area of the lake is 2.75 square kilometers and it is an alpine glacial lake dating back about three lac years when formed by glacial moraines. At a maximum depth of 113 feet, and with a noticeably convex surface due to its impressive scale, it sure does make for a good place to disappear.

Tourist activities near  the lake

Luckily for us, we enjoyed hours of boating, walking along the edges and photography, and waterside activities alongside the shoreline - no encounters with mobsters or their victims. Our favorite spot along the route was Malika Parbat's scenic view.

Lake Saif ul Malokk and  Folk Tales

Like most areas of incredible natural beauty in the northern regions of Pakistan, Lake Saif ul Malook has a long history going back around 300,000 years, as well as a deep connection to mythology. The lake is eponymous with a Saif ul Malook prince as mentioned in a fairy tale by a saint poet Mian Muhammad Bakhsh of Gujrat. According to the fairy tale prince of Egypt Saif ul Malook fell in love with princess Badri ul Jamala at this particular lake.

However, lake Saif ul Malook is an all-weather beautiful tourist place and a very mesmerizing spot and popular for newly married couples.

The natural Wonders, and beautiful snow capped-peaks especially Malika Parbat are mesmerizing. The rich eco-diversity of lake holds tasty large brown trout fish.
