Shungli Bandi or Bandi Shungli

It is a small beautiful village and union council of tehsil Oghi, Mansehra. It is located in a narrower valley near Shungli Katha 17 kilometers southwest of Oghi. Shungli valley is called Shingli Darra and Shungli Katha is the only tributary of the Indus river in the valley. Bandi Shungli is surrounded by small hills in the Torghar mountain range which is the outer Himalayan range just close to the Indus river's eastern terrain at about 25 kilometers of road distance and about 5 nautical miles of aerial distance.

The population of the union council Shungli Bandi is about 10,000 and the registered voter are 1000. 

Language of Shungli Bandi

Three main dialects being spoken in Bandi Shungli are, Hindko being dominant, then Gojri and followed by Pashto. However, there is a special language called mankiyali which is an Indo-Aryan language and is spoken by a small community of village Trawara in Danna and also in Dameka. As per research conducted by Dr Sadaf Munshi a Ph.D. scholar of the Department of linguistics University of North Texax USA, the unique Mankiyali language is obsoleting and it is at high risk due to its small footprint. Mankiyali is being spoken by approximately 500 people in the world. However, all basic dialectic information, script, phonics and dialogue of Mankiyali language have been beautifully digitized and preserved in this research. Famous villages are Sunj, Takya, Danna, Gali, Patiaan, Chatha, Chamrasi, Chakli, Malkana, Jigge, Ramkot, Bandi, Phaghora, Jewar, Karmeli, Neel Batla, Salaya, Shoshni and Marrhi.
