Oghi Old FC Fort پرانا قلعہ فرنٹئیر کنسٹیبلری اوگی

Old FC Fort Oghi is located right in the north of Oghi town on Dilbori road. It was built in 1867 during British rule as a station for British law enforcement agencies to guard Black Mountain and Utmanzai border areas. It remains a very important place and bases camp from 1888 to the end of British rule, for many expeditions against the tribals and other insurgencies against the British Empire. The famous Black Mountain Expeditions 1891 were mainly conducted from this fort under the command of Major-General W.K Elles and support commander Brigadier-General Sir John Mcqueen commander of Hazara Field Force 1888.

A very old brown building on top of a hill northeast of Oghi town is a historical fortalice or fortified house known as Oghi Piket. A two-storied building built around 1850 in the British era is located on a hill north of old Oghi village. From there you can see the beautiful Agror Valley and its scattered villages under your feet.

When You enter Agror valley from Susal Gali (Mansehra side) you will see two beautiful small hills standing very close to each other in the northwest near Oghi Town. On one of these hills lies the old village of Oghi. And on the other hill at right, is the historical fortalice, nestled among the pine trees.

The purpose of this picket was to keep an eye on invaders entering from the neighboring areas and to monitor other activities in the suburbs. There was a tunnel between the famous Oghi old FC Fort and Oghi picket, as a secure path for troop's and guard's movement. However, with the passage of time, the tunnel has vanished now.
This 20 feet high building made of brownstone, clay, and limestone still looks very attractive and bright. The walls are very thick and strong. There is a single heavy iron door on the east side on the second floor to climb up to it. Some holes and slots are also available in the building for external viewing. But now this beautiful and historical building is dilapidated from the eastern side. This historical asset needs to be protected by the archeological department of KPK province.

Tourists who are interested in a bit of history come here, otherwise, the locals see it as nothing more than an ordinary fort - and don't value it. However, if any tourist comes, they definitely serve him open-heartedly. You can reach here by a 5-minute drive on a 1.5 Km link road from Shergarh Road and then a 10-minute easy hike. Tourists should bring food, water, and other refreshments with them, as there is no stall or cabin available to serve.
